"To enhance pride in the Cathedral Parish."
Assist the priests during Mass celebrations. Duties include: lighting the altar candles, carrying candles in procession, acting as book bearer and incense bearer; serving the priest during the Mass, and assisting in other liturgies of the Church. Children who have reached the 4th grade or higher are encouraged to volunteer for this important ministry.
Are you a good reader with a strong voice? Join this ministry to serve as Lector to proclaim the Word of the Lord and as Commentator to introduce the hymns, lead the Prayers of the Faithful, and make announcements.
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
Assist the priests with the distribution of Holy Communion to the faithful during Mass. These individuals strive to increase their love for our Eucharistic Lord by a deepening of their prayer lives and by developing a life of service to the people of God. (You must be appointed by the Rector before attending training offered by the Diocese.)
Communion to the Homebound
Bring Jesus in Word and Sacrament to the sick or confined in the parish. A beautiful ministry where you literally bring Jesus--the Way, the Truth, and the Life--to others! (You must be appointed by the Rector before attending training offered by the Diocese.)
Parishioners (individual, family, or a group) carry the offertory gifts of bread and wine, along with the collection basket to the priest during the Mass.
Sacristans prepare the worship space for liturgies by arranging the liturgical vessels, linens and books, and ensuring they are put away afterward. Various opportunities are available depending upon one's schedule: weekend Masses, daily Masses, special pontifical celebrations, Holy Week, as well as care of vestments, linens, and candles.
The Choir adds beauty and solemnity to the liturgy and encourages singing by the congregation at the 10 a.m. Sunday Mass and other special celebrations. Those with the gift and love of music are encouraged to join.
We strive to enhance worship in our parish by visual experience of the liturgical seasons and special feast days. Members of Liturgical Environment plan, prepare and execute the interior and exterior decorating of the church for the liturgical seasons.
